Health Insurance
GTU Health Insurance Plan for Students (HIPS)
The Graduate Theological Union and participating member schools and institutions sponsor a medical insurance plan designed to provide students with complete medical coverage at a very reasonable cost. The plan is with Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest health plans in California, with over 8,000 physicians at more than 150 locations in northern and southern California to serve you. The HIPS plan has no deductibles, a $20 co-payment for office visits, and includes preventative care as well as many other covered services.
If you are enrolled for nine (9) or more credits or units in any one semester, you must enroll in the GTU HIPS program, or provide proof of health insurance that has comparable benefits and costs. Enrollment in the HIPS plan is for the twelve months of the academic year beginning on September 1, 2009 and ending on August 31, 2010. Unless your eligibility to participate in the program changes, you will be enrolled for the entire year. Premiums for the plan are paid in two equal installments at the beginning of each semester. The monthly and semester rates for the HIPS plan are:
Per Semester Per Year
Student $810.48 $1620.96
Student and Spouse $1783.08 $3566.16
Student and Child(ren) $1620.96 $3241.92
Student and Family $2593.56 $5187.12

Student enrollment periods are August 31 to September 18, 2009 and January 25 to February 12, 2010.
To enroll in the GTU HIPS program or to provide information about membership in a comparable plan and, therefore, waive out of the GTU program, point your browser to http://studentnet.kp.org/gtu.

Easier than I thought.

OK,
So you all should have received an email inviting you to be an author on this Blog right after I sent the email telling you about it. It turns out it is a lot easier to invite everyone than I thought! So again, I would like to welcome you all, and get things going. I guess the easiest way to get to know each other is if everyone could just write a brief description of who you are, where you are joining us from, what degree you are working on (MDiv, MA) (or if you are a professor what your roll is).

I have included Polly Coote the Seminary's registrar (/fearless leader in my humble opinion), Sam Hamilton-Poore who will be leading you in your first Intro to Ministry Class, and Mary Wogec who will be you Hebrew Professor.

Please check out the links below, and again, if you have any questions don't hesitate to post on here, or email me. We should have your personal contacts soon as well. :)
